I’ll be at Big Apple Comic Con 2017 on March 11-12! It would be awesome if you could come and say hello. I want to take a moment to thank the people who run the Big Apple Comic Con for running a great show that I also tabled at in 2015.
I’ll mainly be selling two of the graphic novels I worked my butt off in 2016 to help make — DoubleTake’s “Rise” graphic novel and “Medic” graphic novel. “Medic” follows the story of the the workers at a hospital during a zombie apocalypse. “Rise” follows a brother and sister caught in the same zombie apocalypse. The zombie storyline is loosely based on the Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, but you don’t have to have seen the movie to enjoy the books.
Working at DoubleTake was a dream come true on many levels. I got to work full-time in a startup environment, I gained a world of experience in working in a story group and making storyboards, I learned a lot about the business of comics, and I made a ton of friends and new connections. I worked at DoubleTake for a year before it closed in November 2016. Goodbye DoubleTake, and a big thank you to Bill Jemas and Take-Two Interactive!
While at DoubleTake, I didn’t have time to work on any personal indie comic projects or table at any conventions. I’m now back up and running full steam ahead with my own illustration business! I’ve got some great ideas on what to bring to you this year for comics and other digital / printed materials. Only time will tell what actually makes it to digital or physical print, but I hope you’ll keep an ear out for what I will produce next. The best way to see what I’m up to is on Instagram or Twitter. My handle is @Artiststan.
Back to Big Apple Con: I will also be selling prints, original art, and original sketch commissions (whatever I can carry under the crook of my arm!). See you there!
